Hunting Program
Orientation meetings will be mandatory
for all Hunters to cover Safety/Securitydesignated sites, and regulations prior to open seasons on August 26, September 30, and November 23. Meetings will be conducted by Department Manager with NAPI Safety/Security Supervisors, and Navajo Nation Fish and Wildlife Ranger present. The Navajo Nation small game hunting permit will be required, as well as a federal duck stamp for Waterfowl season.
*Passenger is an individual less than the age of 16 years. A Passenger shall accompany an Adult with a Valid NAPI hunting permit. A Passenger shall not be allowed to hunt unless they have attended the Hunter's Safety course.
*Day Pass can be purchased at a price of $75.00 per day. Day Passes will be issued only on Fridays and will expire three days after date of purchase. A maximum of THREE days will be allowed for each Day Pass. Hunters will be allowed to only purchase 1-three day pass for the season.
* Hunters shall abide by Federal, State, Navajo Nation, and NAPI Rules and Regulations outlined by the Department of Fish and Wildlife office and NAPI hunting policies.
*Rules and Regulations apply to all Hunts:
* Shotgun ONLY.
* Off-road vehicle PROHIBITED.
* Hunters MUST be acquainted with PROHIBITED hunting sites.
* Hunters MUST have a Navajo Nation permit and NAPI access fee.
* Navajo Nation Guides MUST be permitted by Navajo Nation Fish and Wildlife Department.
* All other Navajo Nation hunting regulations apply.
* SAFETY is of utmost importance at NAPI.
Dove Hunting
n Hunting season September 1-September 30, 2010 (4 WEEKS-OPEN ALL DAY).
n Federal regulations to determine bird limit per day.
n Hunting permit fees: $100.00 per person per season. Additional person with hunter provided not hunting: $25.00 per person.
n Access fee limited to 50 on first come first served basis.
Game Bird Hunting (Chukar Partridge, Quail & Pheasants)
n Hunting season: October 5-November 30, 2010 (8 WEEKS-OPEN ALL DAY).
n Daily bag and possession limit: Quail ¨C eight (8); Chukar Partridge ¨C two (2); and Pheasants one (1) Male per stamp.
n Hunting permit fees: $150.00 per person per season. Additional person with hunter provided not hunting: $25.00 per person.
n Access fee limited to 50 on first come first served basis.
n All other Navajo Nation hunting regulations apply. Small game permit with bird validation, bird harvest survey form, and a $5.00 pheasant stamp are REQUIRED and obtainable from the Dept. of Fish & Wildlife office or Vendors.
Waterfowl Hunting
n Hunting season November 25 to January 9, 2008 (6 WEEKS).
* Shooting hours: No earlier than 5:30am.
n Federal regulations to determine bird limit per day.
n Daily bag and possession limit:
* Ducks: Seven (7) including no more than 5 Mallards (2 females), 1 Pintail, 2 Scaup, 2 Redheads, 1 Mottled duck, 1 Canvasback, and 2 wood ducks. Possession limit is twice the daily bag limit.
* Coots and Common Moorhens: 25 singly or in aggregate. Possession limit is also daily limits.
* Canada Geese: Daily bag is four (4) and possession limit of eight (8).
n Hunting permit fees: $300.00 per person per season. Additional person with hunter provided not hunting: $25.00 per person.
n Wanton waste: retrieve all waterfowl you kill or cripple and keep these birds in your custody while in the field. Must immediately kill any wounded birds you retrieve and count those birds towards your daily bag limit.
n Access fee limited to 40 on first come first served basis.
All other Navajo Nation hunting regulations apply. Waterfowl permit with bird validation, bird harvest survey form, and a duck stamp are REQUIRED and obtainable from the Dept. of Fish & Wildlife office or Vendors. Duck stamp is available at U.S. Post Offices and Navajo Nation Fish & Wildlife office.
